A Spa for Pets

On Sunday, I went for my weekly grooming at Pet Tales in Taman Desa. When I arrived, I was surprised to see so many furkids . The owners of Pet Tales had setup a new Pet Spa next door and organised an opening celebration that day so everybody came to give their support. There were free sample of yummy dog food specially prepared and served at the Pet Cafe. Cupcakes, cookies and cakes just for dogs baked fresh from the oven. I liked the cheese and bluberry cupakes best.

I had lots of fun playing chasing with other fur friends. I was so excited meeting my own kind, I did not stop running around the shop. Coolboy and Nicejellybean had a hard time trying to catch me.

By the way, I did not do the spa treatment cos the price was a little too expensive for my Dad's pocket (RM120 per session) but I overheard him talking about giving me a spa treatment as a christmas present. For details of spa treament, please refer to my sis Amber's blog. She is so lucky being "pamper" by all the professional groomers there. Oh well, let's see. So far, the Groomers at Pet Tales treat me real nice and I lurve the girls who clean, bath and do my manicure. We wish Chris and his Team all the best in their new venture !

Me in the Swimming Pool

Dad and Mum decided to buy a small plastic swimming pool for me to try out ever since reading about Amber who luurves to play in the pool so much. Nah .... wrong choice because I don't appreciate swimming in the pool a bit. They should have consulted me first. The water is brrrrr cold and the pool is only half filled which was no fun.(Coolboy said we must conserve the water)

Mimi and the Lion King

Mimi : I woke up this morning and found out my favorite toy "Lion King" has somehow secretly climbed up , riding on my back.

Lion King: "Giddy up, Giddy up, Run, Run"

Mimi :" Would you please let go . I am not a horse, you idiot ..."

After 10 minutes. Mimi: "OK. I give up. I am tired. I promise I will not bite your neck or your butt anymore."

Qiang Qiang and Donut Over the Rainbow Bridge

We discovered this lovely MV from Axel the Pug. The song was written and sung by Ella (from the famous Taiwanese trio, S.H.E) as a tribute to her Pug named Qiang Qiang (meaning morning glory flower) who went to the rainbow bridge about two months ago. Ella decided to launch a special EP of this song and all profits of S.H.E's Ella EP of her pug Qiang Qiang will go directly to Taiwan SPCA. So please help if you can!

Dear Donut ...

It has been almost three months since you left and went over to the rainbow bridge, how have you been? Today, whilst driving to work and thinking about u, a sudden sharp pain hit my heart and tears came out of nowhere as I realized that we could have so many good times together. If only I was more careful, attentive and realised your sickness early. Anyway, I hope you'll have a good time over there.

BTW, could you play close attention to your Sister Mimi as she is getting very naughty recently ... biting every thing when we are not around. She likes chewing the toilet paper, drawer knobs, our wooden coffee table, and etc are all her victims. Do ask her to be gentle and act as a well manner lady.

Personally, I like this pic a lot. I shot with Nikon D40 during a Sunset Moment in the apartment. The lighting is perfect. However, Mimi does not seem to like wearing her new dress .....

Minor Surgery

We left Mimi overnight with the Vet at St Angel Animal Medical Centre for a minor surgery. According to the Vet, Mimi has a cyst which had become infected and it was filled with pus. So they have to put Mimi under sedation, cut an incision and clear out the yellow fluid. It was only 2 days ago we noticed a large round bump at the back of the neck. It was firm, swollen, and painful because Mimi turned her head away when we touched the area. The surgery is simple and not high risk. All they are doing is to cut away the cyst and clean up the area proper. We are not too worried about the surgery but Mimi probably not liking going without food and water for the next 12 hours before the surgery.

This is Mimi's new trick - circling while sitting down. She's got attitude like a true lady pug. Ha! Ha! I bet not many out there can do it like she does !

Eukanuba/Petn You Dog Carnival

Last Sunday, Mimi went for a social outing to the annual Dog Carnival organised by Eukanuba.This event was held at Central Park mainly because most other public places are off limits for dogs in this country. Amongst the attractions on that day were exciting K9 X-games, dog sports and trials, clowns, balloon sculpting, face painting and food stalls. On this Sunday morning, Mimi's tail started to wag left and right because when she saw us packing her stuff into a bag, she knew something exciting is in store for her.

We arrived around 10am and already there were many doggies and owners strolling at the park. We noticed Mimi was uncomfortable walking with the leash but after a few practice sessions walking around the park, she was fine. However, the heat from the sun was scorching hot hence we did not do much walking other than checking out the stall offerings. Nothing much there either.

It was really becoming very humid by then and we were just not in the mood to walk around anymore. So we decided to leave the dog party and send Mimi for a grooming at nearby Pet Safari in Ikano Power Centre (Shopping Centre). The Pet Safari is a pet store located in an air-conditioned environment that also allows pets to roam freely in its premise.This was also Mimi's first visit to the store.

At Pet Safari, we bought Mimi a new 100% cotton Made-in-Japan pink dress at 40% discount. It was still not cheap as things from Japan are expensive here.

At the end of the day all of us were poofed. Surpringly after an exhausting day, Mimi managed to learn a new funny trick which we'll post for another day. Stay tune.

We received an email from Amber, Faith and Chloe's Mommy. She was also thoughtful to send us photos of Mimi whilst boarding with the Big Dogs.

" Hi there! How's Mimi now? Still exhausted from her fun outing last Sunday? Man, she had a GREAT holiday with us. We brought her to the training field to socialize with others. She did a bit but was abit scared and shy. Khoo Boo Gee adores her alot and wanted to kidnap her coz he loves pugs sooo much! Hehehehe... Then we brought her to our friends HUGE bungalow house with a huge garden and huge compound for all of our dogs and her to run up and down. She found a good friend there. She is a basset hound and they both were best friends. She also played in a pool and we also gave her a fast bath. She really had a good time, I thought she would be knocked out dead by the time we come back home but no ..... She still had energy to play & run up & down the house. Hehehe! She was just a cutie and we don't mind her boarding with us again but one thing lah, she needs to be brought out more coz she does not want to walk when she's put down to walk outside our home. And errr ... her toilet habits .... She hardly used her cage & peed & pooed everywhere in the house & peed once on the couch. But otherwise, she was a good girl overall. Thank you for including Mimi in your fun social activities, puting up with Mimi's playfulness and also her unpredictable toilet habits. No wonder Mimi looked very dissapointed and bored when we brought her back !

Away from the City

Hi All, we are back ! Being the stressful people that we are with more responsibilities each day, it's time for a much needed downtime and dissapear for a holiday alone. Otherwise, we'll go c-r-a-z-y! For us daily chores, work, family commitments are all part of our hectic schedule and life here. Hardly remembered the last holiday we had which was way back in the month of April. Although we went away for 3 days (without Mimi), Mimi's interest was our main concern.

Before going on the trip, we had 2 options whether to send Mimi for boarding with Pug Mama Sally or the Big Dogs. After surveying both places prior to her boarding, Mimi adamantly chose to play with the Big Dogs - Amber, Chloe and Faith ! See what we mean in this video clip.

At first we were not sure if Mimi would get along with dogs three times her size but she was not afraid and had fun instead. Mimi's new friends are truly gentle and did not mind although Mimi innocently stepped over them.

We took a drive up to Cameron Highlands and only stayed for two days. However, on our first day, crowds, heavy traffic and tourists made the stay a little unbearable. The highland was much relaxing on our second day after most of the tourists have gone back. It was nice because the weather was really cold due to the rainy season and our time was spent hibernating in the huge and spacious room watching DVDs. Here's some photos we took as a reminisce of our stay.

Mimi is not camera shy and stares right at the lens, so taking Mimi's photograph is easy. We try to use using natural lighting if possible as Mimi hates the flash since it irritates her eyes. Needless to say, we had fun using our new camera, although it did costs us quite a lot. Welcome Mimi Girl

Hello,

My name is Mimi and I was 5 months old on 3 August 2007. I'm a black pug and my Kennel Club name is Asoka. I was 1 of 5 borned from a fawn pug Daddy and black pug Mommy. All of my brothers and sisters have found nice homes, 2 of them live nearby in Bangsar and I hear they travel to the United Kingdom with their Daddy and Mommy ... oooh lucky lucky them. My other 2 siblings have moved to a place far away.

I went to live with Coolboy and Nicejellybean a while after my adopted brother, Donut went to Rainbow Bridge at 2 years old. Actually, I would love to meet my Bro cos I hear he was a cool gentlepug, very playful, and a handsome boy.

When I arrived into this world I weighed 1.2 kg and was a blur little black pup with an odd smell. I now weigh over 4 kgs and looking prettier each day, especially since I got my first grooming last week. I have completed all 3 vaccinations and was pronounced a healthy pug on my last Vet visit.

I have a good appetite and always finish my food during mealtimes. I am working hard on avoiding my paws getting filthy whilst peeing and pooing which is a constant headache for my new owners. For fun, I play fetch with Coolboy, steal socks, find toys, rugs and toilet rolls to chew and learning to play catch-me-if-you-can. Some people wonder if I look more of a cat than a pug since my tail's down most times, my coat's shinny and smooth and I walk around mysterious like a cat. Or the black panther ? ... growl.

On a side note, my pretty face always appears real black on photoshots when taken with the old Casio camera, in fact like a huge black ghost because of my colour. Nobody could see my face clearly so my new Daddy bought a DSLR camera Nikon D40 with 6 megapixels, just to capture my cute face and post nice looking pictures for my Fans ! I am so touched.

Well, I hope you'll enjoy reading about all my adventures.
